This staircase in the old lobby of the Biltmore Hotel played an important role in my life. In 1978 I volunteered for the Younger for Governor campaign and attended my first California Republican Party Convention. I was one of several young volunteers stationed on these stairs to yell and cheer as then-Attorney General Evelle Younger entered the convention hotel.
