Saw the completely devastating film, "Brokeback Mountain" -- aka The Gay Cowboy Movie. It opened today in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York.
Director Ang Lee did a masterful job of bringing this short story that originally appeared in The New Yorker magazine to the big screen.
Set in the western austerity of Wyoming, the cinematography is stunning.
Both Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal give amazing performances. Ledger's performance seems to be getting more notice -- but one performance wouldn't work without the other.
Without giving away the ending, let me just write that in their emotional intensity, the last few minutes of the film are almost unbearable.
I know that some people won't see this movie because of their hatred and bigotry towards gays and lesbians. It's their loss.
