After the movie I stopped by the cafe La Biela for a nightcap. This is a historic cafe in the Recoleta neighborhood which opened its doors in 1850. La Biela became famous in the 1950s when it became a meeting place for car-racing champions and their fans. It was empty indoors tonight because everyone was sitting outside on this lovely summer evening.
When my waiter found out I was from California he wanted to know how Governor Schwarzenegger (a conservative) could get along with Maria Schriver (a Kennedy Democrat). And I thought I was hitting the road to get AWAY from California politics.
