Gin! Skin! Sin! Fun!
Where's my invitation?
Went to see the knockout West Coast Premiere production of "The Wild Party" at the Hudson Theater on Theater Row in Hollywood this afternoon.
"The Wild Party" opened on Broadway on April 13, 2000 and received seven Tony nominations including Best Musical and Best Book.
This production, I've read, is scaled down from what appeared on Broadway -- but it's a great show with a very talented cast, including Sally Kellerman (best knows for her Oscar-nominated turn as Hot Lips Houlihan in "M*A*S*H*.")
The show is set in the Prohibition era of the 20s -- a time of transition. Vaudeville is dying and theaters in New York City are moving from downtown to uptown.
Two entertainers throw a party and when the gin comes out the night turns sloppy (a prerequisite for any good party).
