Happy St. Patrick's Day

Had an outstanding lunch today at Village Idiot, a British Pub inspired restaurant on Melrose.

Located in the old Chianti Restaurant space, which opened as an Italian restaurant in 1938, the architectural transformation is startling. What used to be an intimate (claustrophobic?), romantic restaurant of soft pastel tones is now a wide open, stark -- yet inviting -- space with an open kitchen and a large bar in the center of the room.

The food is quite tasty and affordable. And with the music pumping it's a lively place as well.
