Went to the Pasadena Playhouse tonight to see Annie Potts (Designing Women) in "Diva," a show about an over-the-top television sitcom star.
The show is told in seven scenes shown in reverse chronological order. This dramatic devise really lays bare the back-stabbing shallowness of Hollywood. An agent's promise to "never leave" a client is particularly telling when the audience has already seen that agent dump the client to land a bigger star.
Potts does a great job as the TV star who is so out of control that when she gets angry she orders someone else to throw a soda can at the writer who made her angry. My guess is Potts has seen some wild behavior on a TV set to inspire her performance.
