James Carrol Pickett's "Dream Man" is a one-man play about a phone sex operator. It was a ground-breaking play when it debuted in 1985 at the Skylight Theater in Los Feliz (where is just finished a revival run today).
It really is quite a show piece for whoever performs it. Jimmy Shaw is playing the role now. Michael Kearns played in the role in 1985 and is back directing the show.
Obviously, technology has passed phone sex operators by; but the play remains an interesting examination of sex without emotional, or physical, commitments.
Afterwards I grabbed a bite to eat at the very cool looking Fred 62, a diner on Vermont Avenue in Los Feliz. Too bad the food was no good and the service was downright lousy.
