Wednesday late afternoon found me at the UCLA School of Law for another League of Women Voters Election Forum -- this one co-sponsored by Common Cause. They ran through Propositions 85 to 90 and City of Los Angeles' Measure R.
Many of the speakers touted their Bruin credentials. I kept my mouth shut and went right to the issue at hand.
Later in the evening I went to see the sort-of new Edward Norton/Paul Giamatti movie, "The Illusionist." It's about a late 19th century magician in Vienna. It's supposed to be a mystery, but I could see the "surprise" ending coming from the very start.
I guess I wasn't very fooled by the movie's illusion. But I did enjoy seeing the film's version of Austria.
Sure seems like we're in a run of magician-related movies. I was totally into magic when I was younger. I new a lot of tricks and enjoyed performing. So it's good to see Magicians getting some screen time.
