My Own Private Idaho

Went to The Grove at Farmers Market tonight for the late show of "Georgia Rule," the new movie starring Jane Fonda, Felicity Huffman and Lindsey Lohan.

I hate it when movies set somewhere else are so obviously filmed in Southern California. This movie is supposed to be set in "Hull, Idaho" but I kept thinking, "it sure looks like Southern California." And once the credits rolled, sure enough, it was filmed in Monrovia, Santa Paula and the Angeles National Forest.

On the other hand, it's not really worth much of a road trip. Marketed as a movie about intergenerational friction it quickly veers off into much darker territory.

But I'll tell you what, seeing Jane Fonda digging in a garden and you can't help but think about her father in "On Golden Pond." The acorn doesn't fall far from the tree.
