My Kind of Marathon

Took in Tom Stoppard's epic trilogy "The Coast of Utopia" today in a marathon performance at the Lincoln Center. The first show was at 11 a.m., the second at 3:30 p.m. and the final show began at 8 p.m.

It's a stunning show about Russian dissident gentry who catalyzed the transformation of tsarist Russia. It follows six friends, members of the "Generation of the 1840s."

Ethan Hawke,Brian O'Byrne and Billy Crudup lead the cast. The acting is amazing and, as usual, Tom Stoppard's writing is fascinating. I actually found this show easier to understand then other Stoppard shows I've seen. Maybe since he had 9 hours to work with he was able to spread out the philosophical concepts a little bit.

Celebrity Sightings: Lots of stars in audience for the marathon: Ralph Fiennes, Brian Cox and Randy Harrison.
