I'm not proud to admit it, but I rarely read novels. It's just not something I make time for.
However, I can always find time to eat in a restaurant made famous by a novel.
For instance, today I had an excellent lunch on Ellis Street in San Francisco at John's Grill, which shows up several times in Dashiell Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon" as a regular luncheon choice for detective Sam Spade.
It doesn't seem to have changed much since it opened in 1908, and if I were a San Francisco private dick I'd probably eat there often too.
