Spent time today at Barcelona's Picasso Museum which focuses on the artist's formative years as a resident of the city.
What caught my eye was a Temporary Exhibition about Picasso and the Circus. He had a lifelong fascination with the circus and it was a major part of his body of work.
At the turn of the last century Picasso spent a considerable amount of time with the Medrano Circus in Paris -- which was considered the finest circus in the world at the time.
Harlequin came to represent the artist's alter-ego and was depicted in a number of his pieces of art.
