The foundation of the "Black Taj" across the river from the Taj Mahal. Shah Jahan planned to build the mirror image of the "white" Taj Mahal to represent the bleakness of his life after his wife's death.

The two monuments were to be connected by two bridges over the river -- one in gold and one in silver.

The plan was thwarted when his son put him under house arrest to curbing his spending. Posted by Picasa
