This afternoon GeezBob and I went to see "Letters from Iwo Jima," Clint Eastwood's movie about the battle over Iwo Jima from the Japanese point of view. It's a bookend to his other movie this year, "Flags of Our Fathers," which looks at the same battle from the American perspective.
Since "Letters" is in Japanese it qualified for a Golden Globe nomination for Best Foreign Language Film and Clint Eastwood received Best Director nominations for both films.
"Letters" was interesting and certainly educational, for me, about the Japanese views of war, death and honor.
