Hold the Presses!

For some reason today's theme seemed to be "newspapers."

First I went to the Los Angeles Times building for the Graduation Luncheon for the Junior Statesmen Foundation's Symposium on Los Angeles Politics and Government. I always love walking through their beautiful lobby (photo above).

Then tonight I went to see Woody Allen's new movie "Scoop." I generally like Allen's sense of humor and I really enjoyed this movie. There's something about taking Woody Allen out of New York City and putting him in London that's funny right there. There's something about him -- just watching him drive a car is funny.

Scarlett Johansson plays an American journalism student who receives the news scoop of a lifetime (from a deceased newspaper reporter) while standing inside a magician's disappearing box. Allen plays the magician -- the Great Splendini.

And knowing that Renee Rose threatened to cancel her San Francisco Chronicle subscription when their movie critic failed to mention Hugh Jackman's performance in his review of "Scoop" -- I can assure Mr. Jackman's #1 Fan that his performance as a wealthy British aristocrat is Oscar worthy (natch).
