I Recognize the Voice

Stopped by KNX-AM in the Miracle Mile area of Los Angeles this afternoon to be a guest on The Business Hour with Frank Mottek.

Frank hosted a 30 minute debate on Proposition 87. While I take all debates seriously, this one was particularly important to me because KNX is one of the primary radio stations I listen to.

About a year ago KNX moved from their long-time headquarters in Hollywood to new digs in the Miracle Mile. Their old location had lots of history, but the new place is beautiful.

This evening I went to see "Infamous," the other movie about Truman Capote. As much as I enjoyed seeing "Capote" last year, this one is even better.

And Tobey James is amazing in his transformation into Truman Capote.

The City's Original Fern Bar

Had a lovely brunch this afternoon with my sister, Andrea Redewill, at Perry's in the Cow Hollow neighborhood of San Francisco.

I've heard about this restaurant for years, but hadn't been there until today. They have excellent menu of brunch standards.

When it opened in the 70s, Perry's revolutionized dining by having plants inside the restaurant. Another nail in the coffin of the stuffy, clubby restaurants of the 50s and 60s.

Into the Chipper

The Trojan football team regained its footing and beat Stanford tonight 42 to 0.

By the end of the game even the "Tree" seemed to have lost its smile.

Between the '05 and '06 seasons, Stanford tore down and rebuilt their football stadium. The new facility is a real beauty. And A LOT more comfortable than the old one. Posted by Picasa

Tatoos, check; Piercings, check; Trojan face paint, check. Posted by Picasa

The Stanford Marching Band -- being punished for destroying the Band Shack -- isn't allowed to play on the field at home games this season. So instead of forcing us to sit through a normally distasteful half-time show with the Stanford Marching Band, Stanford University honored their faculty and Athletic Hall of Fame inductees. Posted by Picasa

Good Morning, Quincy

Spent this morning in Quincy -- the county seat of Plumas County -- about three hours northeast of Sacramento.

I did an hour long show on KNLF.

The drive on Highway 70, along the Feather River, was stunning. The road switches from side to side along the river on small bridges built in the 30s.

Went to the USC Pep Rally (in anticipation of tomorrow's game against Stanford) at the historic Westin St. Francis Hotel in downtown San Francisco.

Apparently USC has a history of holding the Pep Rally at the St. Francis -- but over the past couple of decades have been holding them elsewhere. Lots of old-timers were thrilled to be back.

I can understand why, the Trojan Marching Band sounded tremendous in the Grand Ballroom. Posted by Picasa

My Favorite Trojan Fan showed up to the Pep Rally turned out in his usual colorful fashions. Posted by Picasa

Another Night, Another Hotel Lobby

With the campaign coming to a close, I did 4 radio interviews today -- 2 in Fresno, 1 in Grass Valley and ended up in Sacramento for a one hour debate on KFBK-AM at 8 p.m.

Now I'm overnighting in Sacramento and getting up early to do more on Friday.

The Real You

Here are a few photos from my short visit to Santa Monica Boulevard on Halloween night.

I like the way costumes let your real personality come through. Unless you go dressed as a Traffic Cone. Or maybe that is their real personality....
