Fun and Games with George and Martha
Went to the Ahmanson Theater this afternoon to see Kathleen Turner and Bill Irwin starring in "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?"
I first saw this show (with the same leads) a couple of years ago on Broadway. Bill Irwin won a Tony for his performance.
The show is going strong with a meaty script giving all four performers in the cast something to chew on.
Today I was fortunate enough to sit in the second row, so I had a great opportunity to study how the performers bring physicality to their roles.
Turner is on fire throughout the whole show and Irwin is a tightly wound spring that finally gets pushed too hard.
Edward Albee's script holds up as well now as when the play first ran.
