Earlier in the day I visited the New South Wales House of Parliment. I joined a group of third-graders for a brief lecture in the Upper House. This was fortunate because we had about the same level of understanding of Australian parlimentary practices. (But I was secretly pleased to be the only one in the room who knew the answer to the question "What are you doing to legislation when you amend it?" even before the clue "it starts with c-h" was given.)
