Drove onto the Sony Pictures studio lot tonight to see a pre-release screening in the Kim Novak Theater of "Spiderman 3" -- the first blockbuster of the season.
It's a fun action picture and actually shows a sense of humor -- something often missing from these "comic book" movies.
Tobey Maguire, Kirsten Dunst, James Franco and Topher Grace all do a fine job in their roles.
As much fun as it was to see the movie, the coolest part of the evening was the walk from the parking lot to the screening room through the historic movie studio (formerly MGM). On the way out one of the sound stage doors was open and you could see the orchestra set up that had been recording something earlier in the evening.
Political Celebrity Sighting: Had a nice chance to say hello to former California Assembly Speaker and now Los Angeles City Councilmember Herb Wesson on the way out of the screening.
