John Mauceri has conducted the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra for around 15 years. He does a masterful job of making the music accessible to the audience -- he explains what we're going to hear and often puts the music in its historic context. The summer is his last at the Hollywood Bowl. (He's off to other challenges.) I'm so sad about it. Tonight was probably the last time I'll see him conduct this season. I'm going to two other concerts at the Hollywood Bowl -- but they have other conductors.
