The Light's Flickering
Had the chance to catch "The Light in the Piazza" this afternoon at the Ahmanson Theater in downtown Los Angeles.
I previously saw the saw at the Lincoln Center in New York City before it won 6 Tonys in 2005.
I respect this show for being an attempt at a serious, new musical. It's very different from the juke-box musicals that are all so prevalent today.
But ultimately, I thought the NYC production was just OK and I'm afraid the LA production has slipped a few notches. The staging isn't as beautiful nor is the acting as good.
